#39455. Cal. 44-40 WCF. Second model Rifle. Standard Round 24"inch 1/2 Round, 1/2 Octagonal Barrel. Nice traces of the original blue on the barrel, the rest of the finish is a smooth brown-grey patina. Standard front and rear sight. Mechanically perfect and has a very fine bore. Wood in excellent condition. It has a small proofmark located near the fore-end cap on the octagonal part, meaning unknown. This is a second model having the dust cover rail secured on the frame by 2 screws. According to James Gordon and D. Madis, of a total production of 720.609, 1 of each 900 Rifles had a part round barrel, meaning only about 801 were made! As it was manufactured in 1879, the gun shows traces of usage and handling, but no abuse. A wild west era gun! Fine condition. Comes with its original 4 piece cleaning rod in the buttstock!
