IDEAL N0.1 MODEL 1884 RELOADING TOOL
This is where the line of Ideal reloading tools started. Made between 1884 and 1887. The Ideal #1 was made of nickel plated steel, bears the company identification and patent dates, as well as the intended calibre. It has the first Ideal Patent Mark and a one line Patent Date. It was made in calibers from .22 to .38. Offered from 1884 to 1887. Being a first production tool, it has the caliber stamped on sprue plate side with maker's name on opposite side "38 W.C.F." In 1885 this model was displayed in the Marlin catalogue. By the time the 1888 catalogue was released, the line had expanded considerably. The Ideal #1 was made to reload handguns and small rifle cartridges of the time. It had a bullet mould, but no bullet sizer. The seating/crimping chamber was not adjustable. A capping feature was located in the handle. As with the great majority of reloading tools of that type, the de-capper pin is missing. Very good to fine condition.
