EAGLE DESIGN
A 19th century, pre Civil War era, most probably made by Batty, Capewell or Matthewman. This is perhaps the earliest and best representation of the eagle on a hummock. The reverse of the flask is a decorated panel surrounded by a flame and an arm holding a pistol, with the legend MASSACHUSETTS ARMS COMPANY CHICOPEE FALLS. THis flask was made for use with the Mass. Arms Co. Revolver with the Maynard patent primer system. 4 1/2" 11cm. Excellent condition. This is a rare flask!! REF. Riling #761, #762, Jordan P.256/4
