U.S.N. MODEL 1889 PATTERN CARTRIDGE BOX
Original Spanish American War Era US Navy USN Pattern 1889 Leather Revolver Cartridge Box. Adopted by the USN in 1889 for use with the Colt Double Action .38 caliber Revolver. Made of black bridle leather, with two belt loops on the rear and fitted with a wooden block drilled for two Colt cartridge-packs, each loaded with six rounds of ammunition, and six loose round, three on each side of the block. USN embossed on flap in an oval. No other markings present. Brass snap closure is unusual type. The leather is in very good condition. Fine.
